PARKMAN NEWS—MAY 2026 EDITION

  • The​​ Parkman Prowlers​​ ATV Club will have their first meeting of the season on​​ Monday, May 4th​​ at 5:30 p.m. in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ This is a potluck meeting, and all are welcome to attend. ​​ Membership forms will be available.

 

  • The Parkman Grange will meet on​​ Tuesday, May 5th​​ at 5:00 p.m. at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • The Transfer Station will be open on Wednesdays beginning​​ May 6, 2026​​ from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. ​​ They are also open Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ Please have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants.​​ 

 

  • The Parkman Grange is having their 24th​​ Mother’s Day Tea on​​ Saturday, May 9th​​ from 10:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ The guest of honor this year is Katie Landry. ​​ Tea fare is served by the local Boy Scouts. ​​ Live entertainment and sing-alongs, lots of door prizes, and a 50/50 raffle make this a fun and popular event. ​​ Admission is $5 per person. ​​ Reservations are required and can be made by calling Sue at (207) 717-6248. ​​ Seating to this popular event is limited, so don’t wait too long to make your reservations.

 

  • The Town of Parkman will be having Clean-up Days on​​ Wednesday, May 13th​​ and​​ Saturday, May 30th. ​​ There will be NO CHARGE for Demo at the Transfer Station on these two dates. ​​ You must have your Transfer Station sticker visible to the attendants. ​​ 

 

  • The Board of Selectmen will meet on​​ Thursday, May 14th​​ and​​ Thursday, May 28th​​ at 5:00 p.m. in the library of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Please note the time change of the Selectmen’s Meeting. ​​ They will now be meeting at 5:00 p.m. instead of 5:30 p.m.

 

  • The Town of Cambridge is having a Book and Plant Sale on​​ Saturday, May 16th​​ at 10:00 a.m. at the Cambridge Town Hall, 202 Ripley Road, Cambridge.

 

  • Join the Historical Society on​​ Sunday, May 17th​​ at 2:00 p.m. as they host the mid Maine Historical Society at the Parkman Grange Hall. ​​ Come for the food, stay to hear the​​ progress local groups are making with preservation efforts. ​​ The meeting will conclude with a walk-through of the Kimball place.

 

  • The Moose permit applications are available online at​​ www.maine.gov/ifw. ​​ The deadline for completion is 11:59 p.m. on May 18th.

 

  • The SAD #4 District Budget Meeting will be held on​​ Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. in the PCES cafeteria. ​​ There will be an informational meeting at 6:30 p.m. in the PCES cafeteria for citizens to have the proposed budget explained and to ask questions. ​​ All are encouraged to attend this meeting.

 

  • SAD #4 schools will have an early release day on Friday, May 22nd​​ with dismissal at 11:30 a.m. ​​ There will be no school on Monday, May 25th​​ in observance of Memorial Day.

 

  • The Parkman Town Office will be​​ CLOSED​​ on​​ Monday, May 25th​​ ​​ in observance of Memorial Day.

 

  • Sonia Sanborn is the Animal Control Officer through May 31, 2026, for the Town of Parkman. ​​ She can be reached at (207) 343-0455. ​​ Once we have hired a new Animal Control Officer, it will be posted in the newsletter and on our town website at​​ www.parkmanmaine.com.

 

  • The Parkman Baptist Church holds worship services every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. ​​ All are welcome to attend.

 

  • When re-registering your vehicle, please bring in your previous registration. ​​ By now, you should have switched to the Pine Tree plate if you had a chickadee plate previously. ​​ If you still have a chickadee plate on your vehicle then your registration has expired.

 

  • Building permits are available at the Parkman Town Office.

  • Proof of insurance is required to register all vehicles. ​​ The Town Office accepts electronic proof of insurance, or you can have your agent email proof to​​ townofparkman@yahoo.com​​ or fax to (207) 876-9704.

 

  • The 2026 boat registrations are available. ​​ If you are registering a boat for the first time, you will need a bill of sale or proof of sales tax paid at a dealer at time of registration. ​​ Registration fee is based on length of boat and horsepower. ​​ Boats DO NOT require a title. ​​ If you are re-registering your boat, please bring in your old registration. ​​ You also need your current driver’s license or unexpired State ID at time of registration.

  • The re-use building at the Transfer Station is for personal use only, no resale permitted.

 

  • Fire permits can be obtained at KC’s Country Store: (207) 876-4111 and from Danny White at 85 Crow Hill Road: (207) 876-2681. ​​ Please do not call Danny before 8:00 a.m. to obtain a fire permit.

 

  • If you need a certified copy of a birth, death, or marriage certificate please call ahead to the Parkman Town Office (207) 876-3730. ​​ The fee is $15.00 for one copy, and $6.00 for any additional copies of the same record requested at the same time.

 

  • When registering anything in the MOSES system (ATV’s, Boats, Snowmobiles, Recreational licenses) please bring in your prior registration and a valid driver’s license/unexpired State ID at time of registration.

 

  • The fee for a marriage license is $40.00. ​​ Marriage applications are valid 90 days from issue. ​​ Both the bride and groom must sign the application in the presence of a clerk at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ If this is not your first marriage, please bring in a copy of your divorce decree or a death certificate when completing the application. ​​ Please note that you must call the Parkman Town Office at (207) 876-3730 to schedule an appointment to obtain your marriage license.

 

  • White’s Family Redemption​​ is open Tuesday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Sunday and Monday. ​​ Their ability to count bottles while you wait may be affected by fiddlehead season so please call ahead: (207) 876-2681. ​​ They are located at 85 Crow Hill Road in Parkman.

 

  • The Recovery Wellness Community Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ​​ They are located at 20 Douty Hill Road in Sangerville. ​​ They offer all recovery meetings. ​​ For more information, please visit their Facebook page: Recovery Wellness Community Center or call (207) 343-1536.

 

  • Applications for the Minnie Bridge Scholarship ($500) are available at the Parkman Town Office and at the bulletin board on the Grange porch. ​​ This scholarship is for students who have completed at least one year of higher education in the SAD #4 area. ​​ Please mail completed applications and all required materials to the Parkman Grange, PO BOX 114, Guilford, ME ​​ 04443 or drop them off at the Parkman Town Office. ​​ The deadline to apply is​​ Friday, July 24, 2026.

 

  • The SAD #4 District Budget Validation Referendum and the State Primary Election will be held on​​ Tuesday, June 9, 2026. ​​ Polls will be open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. ​​ Voting will take place in the lower level of the Parkman Town Office. ​​ Absentee ballots will be available at the Parkman Town Office.

 

  • The Cambridge Community Clothes Closet is open the first and third Wednesday of each month from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the first and third Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. ​​ They are in the basement of the Cambridge Baptist Church, 9 North Road in Cambridge. ​​ All clothing is free. ​​ For more information, please call (207) 277-3234.

 

  • When doing a private sale, if there are two names on the prior title you must have both signatures on the back of the title to register the vehicle. ​​ If you are doing a title in two names at time of registration, both parties must be present to sign the title in front of the clerk. ​​ Please note that vehicles with a model year of​​ 2000 and older​​ are exempt from a certificate of title.

 

  • Fox Den Wildlife Rehab​​ is located at 935 North Dexter Road in Parkman. ​​ Sonia Sanborn deals with opossums, skunks, raccoons, foxes, bobcats, and coyotes. ​​ She can be reached at (207) 343-0455.

 

  • Free fishing weekend is​​ Saturday, May 30th​​ through Sunday, May 31st. ​​ On these days, anyone (except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) may fish without a license. ​​ All other laws and regulations apply on these days.
